Spring 2013 Mini-Internship: Aging Variants Database Project
In progress: March 15th – June 30, 2013 with 11 interns.
Health Extension is conducting a 15-week internship program. This project will produce the world’s first comprehensive database of all known genetic variations in humans that pertain to lifespan and aging characteristics. It will be submitted for publication in a prominent journal read by geneticists worldwide, and will accelerate the rate at which researchers understand how aging works, and how to apply that knowledge to finding therapies. Interns are working as a team under the advice of a Stanford post-doc to distill the variants reported in the scientific literature into the key information that researchers worldwide need to have assembled in one place.
